It jolted the Noto Peninsula causing buildings to collapse and tsunami warnings to arise.

More than 33,000 people have evacuated their homes as of January 4.

More than 300 people have been injured till Thursday.

More than 25 of them are in serious condition.

The death toll has risen to 73 on January 4.

Japan is situated along the ‘Pacific Ring of Fire’, the most active earthquake tectonic belt in the world.

No threat to the Fukushima Power Plant has been reported as of yet.
